I know, pausing may feel impossible when you’re drowning in to-do lists.
But here’s the truth: pausing doesn’t waste time—it saves it. Taking just a moment to pause keeps you from spiraling further and prevents wasted effort fueled by panic.
Step 2: Regulate with the Breath - Ground
The fastest way to calm your nervous system is through the breath.
Try a simple technique: box breathing (count 4 in, 4 hold, 4 out, 4 hold), five slow deep breaths, or even just a long sigh out.
And if focusing on your breath feels too difficult, anchor yourself in the present moment instead. Notice what you see, feel, or do: “I’m walking. I’m carrying my bag. I see a red scarf.”
Grounding brings you back into your body and steadies you before you take the next step.
